Palliative Care
Palliative Care is often regarded in a negative light, we know that whenever it’s mentioned people automatically assume it to be a horrid and miserable time to experience. However, at Audrey Care and Housing, we want to remove this stigma by giving the best support for those who are nearing the end of their life and their families, regardless of longevity — we know that Palliative Care can be required during any stage of one’s illness; it doesn’t mean that one is likely to die soon, some clients may receive palliative care for years.
So, our carers at Audrey Care and Housing are best equipped at dealing and preparing for this by being able to work in partnerships with other professionals — doctors, nurses, chaplains, physical therapists etc. — and meet our clients cultural needs, whether this be physical, psychological, social or spiritual.
“Palliative care isn’t just a place you go to slowly slip away. It is about being comfortable for the duration of something necessary and painful. Making bad times easier.”
